“Dennis! Come here, we need you to lift this patient and take her to the ER on the 13th floor. ASAP!!”
“What happened to her?”, Dennis asked feeling sick to his stomach. The girl had blood all over her and a deep bite mark on her neck. Dennis began coughing with a violent manner. He nodded and pushed the gurney to the elevator and punched in the number 13.
“Ugh, I hate this music...”, the elevator music was louder than usual, Dennis always wondered why they played the music, no one liked it. “BING” the elevator sounded when Dennis reached the 13th floor. He took the gurney and rolled it down to the doors of the ER. Dennis heard a moan type of noise. “Must of been somebody in there”, he thought to himself. Then in an instant the woman grabbed his arm and pulled it to her mouth. “WHAT THE HELL LADY?!” Dennis got his arm free and scooted back trying to grasp of what just happened. The woman got out of the gurney and started hobbling towards Dennis.
“Ma'am, calm down, just get back on there, and we can get you fixed up good as new.”
Dennis tried to calm the lady down but to no avail. The woman grabbed Dennis again and tried to bite down on his arm. Dennis pushed her off and repeated what he said. The woman jumped and knocked Dennis off his feet. “Stop! Somebody help me!!” Dennis screamed for assistance and another male nurse came in and grabbed the woman. “Ma'am, please, ma'am please get on the cot and then we'll get you fixed up” Nurse John tried to make peace with the lady. He got her on the gurney and strapped her hand to it. John got her in the ER, and they put her on a bed. Dennis got up confused and then he heard painful screams from the ER, not screams of the patients, but of the nurse. Dennis ran inside and saw blood all over the walls in a room which was holding John and the woman. “What the fu--” Dennis was interrupted by more screams coming from the room, the other nurses and doctors weren't looked like they were gone, and the remaining few ignored it thinking it was a patient. Dennis entered the room, and to his horrific surprise, the woman was free and was eating John. She was eating a human. Dennis vomited on the ground and the lady noticed him. She stood up and started walking towards Dennis. Dennis grabbed a nearby needle and held it up to her, trying to warn her. The lady ignored the gesture and continued walking. “HEY, HEY DOCTOR LEE!” Dennis ran out and looked for the doctor. The woman now walking much faster grabbed a nurse and took her down and began consuming her. Dennis now horrified, had to put a stop to this. “AHH! STOP!!” Dennis attacked the lady with the needle and shoved it in her eye. “You better not go to jail for that.” Doctor Lee said as he entered the room.
“I think jail is the least of our worries.” Dennis breathed heavily as he had to stab the girl in the eye more than once. “She died, and came back, she died in the elevator. So, what makes you think the other people killed by them won't? Alright, let's take the stairs. We should get outta here as soon as we can. I don't want to have to deal with anymore...anymore of what that is.”
Dennis and Lee ran down the stairs, trying to stay alert of their surroundings. They entered a floor, and in the room, there were dead everywhere. Blood, guts, and those things, everywhere. They all had noticed Dennis and Lee and started walking towards them. The only escape was the door ahead of them, but they did not now if they could make it without getting eaten by one of the things. Dennis grabbed a fire extinguisher that was nearby the door. He brought the extinguisher down on the head of the dead that had reached for Lee. “C'mon! Now is our chance!” Dennis exclaimed. They reached the door and closed it as fast as they could. “Lee keep a tight hold on that door until I find a block or something! Ahh, here's a 2x4!” Dennis wedged the 2x4 in the door's handles.
“That should hold them for now. Hopefully everyone made it out. Besides, these guys.” Doctor Lee shakingly said, knowing it was probably not true.
They marked the door with a dry erase marker, it read: DON'T OPEN DEAD INSIDE. “Alright, that should be good, now...let's leave. Dennis sighed.
Dennis and Lee found an ambulance truck with the keys still in it. They took the back way out, just in case the army shows up, they wouldn't be in their way. As they started driving on the highway, they saw helicopters fly over the vehicle and they circled the hospital. They drove in silence for about 15 minutes.
“Boy that was close, huh? We almost didn't make it.” Doctor Lee said looking at Dennis, not paying attention to the road.
“Yeah, we could have been inside with the oth—HOLY SHI-” Dennis yelled as he met eyes with the emptiness of the dead's.
The vehicle ran off the road.
