                          War, War never changes...

“Well...look who's awake...” A man said, standing above me...

Where was I? How did I get in this bed? Who's that man, and what has he done to me.

The sudden pain in my head felt like someone had pounded on it with a hammer. The pain caused me to moan.

“Why don't you relax a second. Get your bearings. You've been out cold for awhile now.”

Sitting up, I finally managed to ask, “How long is 'awhile'?”

“I'd say five days now...” The man said.

“Who are you, and why am I here? Hey, where are my clothes?! I swear if you did what I think-”

“I'm Doc Mitchell, you were shot in the head, I don't know much about that, you'd have to ask Victor, the one that dug you out of the grave. And well, your clothes were being washed..a lady took them out somewhere, probably the well. She hasn't returned yet. And that was five days ago. She probably died, poor thing.”

I grabbed my head, the doc gave me a shot of Med-X to ease the pain, it almost instantly felt better.

“Well, Doc...I'm William, you can call me Will. Thanks for patching me up...but hey, is there anything you can give me to numb the pain, later?”

Mitchell walked over the table, grabbed a medical bag, and handed it to me.

“It has the basic medical supplies in there, it's all I can spare in this time. Now follow me.”

After a hour of different testings, he gave me my supplies that I had, and handed me a Pip-Boy.

“Feel free to use the Chemistry set, or to repair that 9mm over there. The Chemistry set ables you to make some more stims, or some chems. Stay away from those, though. You might get addicted to those...”

“Thanks again, Doc..” I said, leaving the house. The sun was bright, brighter than usual. Better find this Victor guy and see what he has to say.

                                   Chapter 2

I pulled up my Pip-Boy and programmed it, my name, my age, and of course my gender.

I walked down Doc Mitchell's driveway, and thought I should check over my things.

1. 9mm Pistol with 35 bullets.
2. A small medical bag
3. 8 stimpacks
4. A repaired 9mm machine gun
5. 18 caps
6. Vault 21 suit
7. A Weather 10mm with 100 bullets
8. A empty .357 handgun

I holstered my .357 even though I didn't have any bullets, I wasn't going to have to use it any time right now, and maybe I'd find ammo. I thought I should try to find Victor, but where would I start. Just then, a robot, a Securitron styled robot, passed me.

“Excuse me sir...er, robot. Do you know a “Victor” that lives around here?”

“Well you're talking to him...I dug you out of the grave, and I'm surprised that you're still kickin'. I'm sure you have loads of questions!”

“Y-yeah,” I said, I was a little stunned that a robot dug me out of a grave, “Who were the men, and where did they go after?”

“Oh the one was a Vegas type..the others, I'm not so sure. One of the men had said the man in the checkered coat was Benny. Sorry I can't answer more than that. See ya.”

Victor strolled away, and Doc had told me to go to the bar, a girl, Sunny Smiles, would teach me how to survive. After meeting up with her and her dog. I went with her to clear out Geckos and to craft things. We walked back up to the bar after that was done.

“Thanks for teaching me how to survive by crafting stuff and for the rifle. Maybe you could help me, when I leave this place, we make a great team, us three.” I said, hopefully she'd come along, it's hard doing things alone.”

“I'd love too, but I should really stay in Goodsprings, there's lots of bad things out in the Wastes and I need to stay here and protect the town.” Smiles said, smiling. Irony right?

Goodsprings was a nice little town,  but not a town for someone like me. I stuck out...I'm leaving when I get the chance, which is tomorrow morning.

We exchanged handshakes, and she told me to talk to Trudy, the bartender. She likes talking to the new comers.

I walked into the bar, and there was who I guessed to be Trudy, arguing with a man. I sat down close to them, and overheard the conversation. He said something about taking her out and blowing her head off is she knew where Ringo was. I got up from the stool and spun him around.

“Hey, mister...that's not how to treat a lady.”

“Fuck off, kid!” the man yelled and turned back around.

I smiled and grabbed a bottle of beer from the counter and smashed it on his head. He spun around again after grunting. His head was wet with beer, and the top of his head was bleeding. I couldn't help but smile.

“That's no way to talk to me, either.” I said, dodging his punch. I took his head and smashed it out the counter, the settlers got up away from us, it was a smart thing, because I knew it would get dirty. I

Trudy backed up, close to the bathrooms, after he swung at me again. When he did, I tackled him. I punched him three times and took his gun, and swapped it with mine. Don't really remember much more than that, except the end, I smashed his foot several times, and  he pulled his (my) .357 on me.

“Bitch, I should shoot you here and now-”

“Go ahead, try shooting me. You don't have any bullets. I swapped them when you swung.” I pulled out his pistol and pointed it at him. He dropped the gun and I emptied his, and tossed it to him, “Now go, I'm not gonna kill you, not now anyway. Wipe the blood off of your face when you get back to your camp.” I ordered and made a fool of him.

When he left, everyone clapped, I felt as if the town liked me.

“I don't know if it was good or bad that you beat him like that. Now he hates two people in this town. But...you're alright by me, can I get you a drink?” Trudy asked, picking up a glass, and washing it with a rag.

“Uh, sure..I'll just have water, here's all the caps I got.” I gave her my 18 caps, and smiled.

“Here you go, but I don't want these caps, it's on the house. You did us a good, you cleared out the water supply, saved the woman getting attacked by those nasty Geckos, and you made Cobb leave, I don't know how long that'll last though, but take this as a thank you gift.” She said giving me another purified water.

I smiled and nodded, and sat for a bit, reading over the note that I had with me. Benny, the man in the checkered coat wanted that chip I was carrying.

Trudy's radio kept messing up, and I asked if I could take a look, she said sure, and gave me a screwdriver when I had asked. There was a small cord that was out of its place. I fixed it and it set it back where it was before. She gave me a small sack of caps, she said there were one hundred in it. It seemed too much, but I wasn't going to argue.

Mitchell. Victor. Sunny Smiles and her dog Cheyenne. Cobb. Trudy. Ringo. Benny and his goons. I thought of the names, and thought of them. What could have Ringo done to Cobb and his Powder Gangers. I would find that out later. It was now 4:16 and I thought that I should leave the bar. I had sat there for three hours, writing things down, thinking, and talking. Sunny sat with me for awhile, telling me more about crafting food, and ammo. I wrote some notes over it. I had done a lot for one day.

“Thanks, Trudy, for the water and for the caps, I'll see you tomorrow.” I waved at Trudy, and then at Sunny.

I went to the old gas station where Ringo was staying. He pulled his gun on me...why does everyone do that?

“Woah! If you plan to shoot, you better not miss.” I said, half smiling, not sure if he was going to fire or not.

“Sorry about the gun, I'm just a little jumpy.”

“Yeah, I know why. Cobb is looking for you...I had already met him, I messed up his leg, and bloodied him up for you.”

“Thanks, but I don't know if that's any good. They might kill us all now. Shit...I guess he busted your lip.”

“I can help you with the Powder Gangers, free of charge. I'm sure Cobb is regrouping, and will come tomorrow. I'm gonna find a spot and hide, in case I'm wrong. Hopefully I won't fall asleep. I can't let this town perish. Not this one.”

“Sounds like you have a dark past..er how about we pass the time with a game of caravan?”

“Sorry, I don't know how to play, and I really need to go set up camp.”

“I'll come with you, set up a watch, where we won't have to go without sleep.” Ringo said, before I went out the door. He followed me to the abandoned houses. He sat on the doorstep and I got on the roof. I had my rifle out then.

I dozed off for about 5 hours, I noticed Ringo had fallen asleep too, it was his shift! Good thing they didn't attack. I sat there...bored out of my mind. I got another water before I left the bar, so I drunk that while I was waiting. I looked at my Pip-Boy to see what time it was. 3:37a.m

I had to use the bathroom, so I jumped off the roof, and went into the bathroom in the house. When I came out, Ringo wasn't where he was when I went in. I was only gone for a minute or two...I looked on the roof, and he wasn't there either.

I stood there, looking around...I heard something behind me, there was Sunny Smiles and Ringo.

“I thought maybe she could help us...you were gone, so I thought maybe I should find her to help us.” Ringo explained when I frowned at him.

“You can both sleep, I'll set up watch down here...” Ringo said, “I promise not to fall asleep again.”

I went to sleep, Sunny was on the roof with me, but not beside me.

The next morning, I met up with Easy Pete, Doc Mitchell, Trudy, and Chet. I got all of their supplies and Trudy said she'd help because I had helped her so much.
I was right...there was Cobb and his gang. Everyone was shooting from cover, but not me. I was in the middle of it. Somehow I didn't get shot. It was a miracle. I threw a stick of dynamite in the crowd. It killed 3 out of 6 Gangers. Cobb remained and Sunny shot one of the other Gangers, and Cheyenne fished the job. Ringo hit one with his gun and shot him two times. The other ran way but was shot several times in the back by everyone, not wanting him to get away.

I punched Cobb and threw him to the ground. I took a knife I picked up from the General Store and shoved it into his chest.

“That vest won't save you from this.” I hissed at him, pushing the knife farther in his chest.

“Yeah,” Joe Cobb almost silently whispered, coughing up blood. “Your leather...won't...stop t-this.”

I knew what was going to happen when he said that. I felt the sudden pain in my stomach. Just when I was feeling better from the head shot, I get shot in the stomach. I rolled off of Cobb, gasping for air. It didn't feel real. The last thing I saw, the last thing I remember was Sunny and Ringo running up to me...

I slipped away from life, as far as I'd know.
Chapter 2 is lengthy. Based off the game from Bethesda.
